In early 2018, shortly before his 77th year, Neil Diamond retired from touring after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.
However, Diamond’s live performance legacy continues to be celebrated for audiences worldwide through longtime Las Vegas performer Rob Garrett, widely regarded as the top Neil Diamond tribute artist.

Like his idol, Rob Garrett was born in Brooklyn, NY.
In May 1974, his parents moved the family from New York City to Las Vegas, where, at age 16, he witnessed his first Neil Diamond concert Rob Garrett Neil Diamond Tribute Show Las Vegas off Strip when Diamond debuted in Las Vegas to record crowds at the Aladdin Hotel’s “Theater for the Performing Arts” in July 1976.
Garrett went on to see him multiple times across the country—right up until Diamond’s last American show at the LA Forum on August 12, 2017.
In 1980, Garrett formed his own band, “Rock n Roll Heaven,” and enjoyed a successful 15-year run in Las Vegas and across the nation before deciding to move from lead singer of a cover band to a tribute artist dedicated to one of his musical idols.
In 1995, Garrett was hand-picked by Paul Revere, leader of “The Raiders” to portray Neil Diamond in the “Legends in Concert” show in Honolulu, Hawaii.
What was meant to be a three-month trial turned into a three-year residency.
By August 1998, Garrett returned home to Las Vegas and continued to perform with “Legends” for another couple of years before deciding to create his own tribute production.
He began a busy tour circuit, building a strong worldwide fan community along the way—earning the title “King of Diamonds Neil Diamond Tribute.”
He continues to draw packed houses nationwide, often in venues fit for superstars.
Garrett has also won numerous awards, including “Male Tribute Artist of the Year.”
“Since Neil Diamond retired, I’ve felt a strong sense of responsibility to keep his legacy alive for future generations. It’s something I never get tired of doing,” he said.
On May 19, Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman officially proclaimed the date “Rob Garrett Day,” commemorating Rob’s 50 years as a Las Vegas resident and 44 years as a professional Vegas performer.
Now in the year 2025, Garrett celebrates 45 years as an active Las Vegas entertainer, with the last three decades devoted solely to paying tribute to the now-retired Neil Diamond.
It has been said that no other tribute artist is so closely identified with the original performer as Garrett, who has played in more Vegas rooms than any peer.
Since the June closing of “A Beautiful Noise” (the Broadway jukebox musical based on Diamond’s life story), Rob Garrett’s “King of Diamonds” show has become the nation’s sole ongoing Neil Diamond tribute show.
